ServiceNow vs Salesforce: where the scopes differ

The ServiceNow records in this sample describe IT, employee, customer-service, and operational-technology workflows. The Salesforce records describe sales and customer relationships. A company can have evidence on both sides because the tools serve different work.

Siemens is one such example: its ServiceNow story concerns operational technology service management, while its Salesforce story describes sales processes. This is company-level overlap, not proof that the two products compete for the same deployment.

Salesforce vs ServiceNow for a specific workflow

Name the workflow before comparing vendors. A customer-service evaluation needs different acceptance criteria from an internal IT service workflow or sales pipeline. Use the source table to see which kind of relationship each customer story supports.

Public customer stories do not establish seats, contract values, active integrations, or which vendor a company considers its main platform.

What would show a switch?

A first observation does not establish a new customer. Even a removal and addition need matching company, service scope, and comparable historical sources before they can support a replacement claim.

The movement-window selector shows the requested period and the historical evidence gap. It does not recalculate current counts into invented wins, losses, or net movement.

What the evidence can tell you

A public job board supports an ATS observation. A subprocessor disclosure identifies a provider that may process data for particular services. A vendor customer story describes a published relationship. These sources have different scopes and are labeled separately.

Counts cover the records on these pages, not the whole market. No observation in our covered sources does not mean a company does not use a vendor. Source recency and unresolved conflicts affect confidence; observations do not establish spend, renewal timing, or customer churn.
